Got my box. Gotta wonder how many people have a soft spot for the Death of Superman saga, but I always liked that storyline and the Reign of Supermen followup, which is all in the massive omnibus I got this month. It looks great!

VALIANT MASTERS NINJAK HC VOL 01 BLACK WATER (C: 0-1-1)
SUPERMAN DEATH AND RETURN OF SUPERMAN OMNIBUS HC *Special Discount*
GI JOE A REAL AMERICAN HERO TP VOL 06
X-O MANOWAR (ONGOING) #11 REG CRAIN CVR
SHADOWMAN (NEW) #5 REG ZIRCHER CVR
ARCHER & ARMSTRONG (NEW) #8 REG LUPACCHINO CVR
HARBINGER (ONGOING) #10 REG SUAYAN CVR
BLOODSHOT (ONGOING) #9 REG HENRY CVR
CEREBUS TP VOL 07 FLIGHT (STAR00543)
CEREBUS TP VOL 08 WOMEN (STAR00849)

I love Valiant, Death of Superman, classic X-Force, etc. I'm a comics child of the early 90s, for sure.

I took a look at the regular Death of Superman tpb, and the edition was quite bad. Some of the pages were badly reproduced.

I'd have to go back and check. I ALSO own the original Death of Superman TPB. I don't remember this issue but you may be right. Can't say I've looked closely at every page in the omnibus, but I'd say it looks good.

Most of the pages are good, but others seemed to have been scanned from an actual printed comic and a slightly wrong resolution. Looks ugly, if you ask me.

I just flipped mine--didn't see anything like that. Do you know which pages were like that? Maybe you got a bad printing or something. My TPB is on the non-glossy paper and was probably published shortly after the original comics were on the stands so maybe they screwed up subsequent printings. I've just been reading the omnibus and it looked great as well, even though it was probably recolored to some extent and certainly was on nicer, glossy paper.

Here's this month's cart. Boy, Valiant has really been nailing it. Their books get better and better every month. Loving all of them, but Bloodshot is probably my current favorite. The character of Gamma is written so well that she really feels like a damn near insurmountable threat. Also loving A&A, as Van Lente is filling that books with crazy ideas. These guys are making some great comics.

NEXUS OMNIBUS TP VOL 03 (C: 0-1-2)
SANDMAN OMNIBUS HC VOL 01 (MR) *Special Discount*
PROPHET TP VOL 02 BROTHERS
WALKING DEAD TP VOL 18 WHAT COMES AFTER
MOUSE GUARD HC VOL 03 BLACK AXE (C: 0-0-2)
HARBINGER WARS (VU) #3 (OF 4) REG ZIRCHER
HARBINGER (VU) #13 HARBINGER WARS REG ZIRCHER
BLOODSHOT (VU) #12 HARBINGER WARS REG ANDRASOFSZKY
ARCHER & ARMSTRONG (VU) #10 REG HENRY
SHADOWMAN (VU) #7 REG ZIRCHER
X-O MANOWAR (VU) #14 (PD) REG LOZZI

I can't remember the pages and I already got rid of that tpb (which wasn't on glossy paper, by the way). I noticed the same defect (badly scanned pages) with a Spawn vol. 1 from Image that came out in 2012.

Phone book? So they're smaller than the usual tpb?

Dunno. I was thinking of "phone book" in the Cerebus sense, or even the Essentials sense. Though I'm not sure how they plan on packing 400+ color pages for less than $40....

Either way, I'm probably in on these.

I've been reading posts by Jeph York, an apparent Marvel employee who is working on these Epic collections. Sounds like we should expect them to be like the Captain America: The Captain" trade paperback (which he called a "retroactive Epic" collection). That's a normal-sized trade (in terms of dimensions), clocked in at about 520 pages, and has an MSRP of $39.99. If this is what the Epic line will look like, that's perfect.
