I find that we almost consistently disagree on comics post-2000 and that we're perfectly in-sync regarding comics pre-2000, particularly 80s stuff. Why is that, buddy?

I was 15 in 2000, so I didn't have much mind to lose.

DAMMIT! Now you know when to pick up teenage me in the timestream so he can have boring, poorly paced adventures in the modern day. Oh, well. At least now I can hold entire conversations full of subpar David Mamet imitations.

still a thousand times more entertaining than 12 issues of Daredevil stretched out to 60.

OK, so what makes Daredevil's decompression different from All-New X-Men's decompression? Honestly, what happened in the first 6 issues of ANXM?

The only difference I can think of is the art. I swear Maleev was re-using panels sometimes, while Immonen's art is awesome enough to make me want to buy books I hate.

i will admit, the art makes a huge difference. :-D

honestly, there's probably not much difference in the style, but the X-Men stuff has just been more fun to me. i can forgive decompression and even padding if it's fun, but from the word go i found Bendis's DD depressing and eventually boring. add in the fact that Matt damn near never practiced any law, Milla sucked, i hated that he killed Hector Ayala, and any number of other story complaints, and i just had no forgiveness b/c of that for the repetition/decompression/etc.

also, DD was hideous. have i mentioned how much i hate Maleev in the last day or so?

Yeah, the art makes a huge difference. I love Immonen's stuff enough that I would definitely get caught up with All New X-Men when it's offered as part of a 99 cents sale. I just cant justify paying $4 twice a month for it when there are SO many other things I enjoy more.

His second best work next to Alias. Although I'd say even that has some flaws. Mostly Alex Maleev making the book look a thousand times better than it would have been with any other artist. A lot of the dialogue is cluttered and there is just way too much. Story-wise, it moves well but there were some stories that didn't need to be 5-6 issues long (Decalogue and Golden Age and pretty much every story after the climax). The first half is a lot of fun but even that is kind of long.

Alias was really good though. I've been trying to find the trades because for some reason I sold them.

Because Chap is stuck in the 80s. He still has a rat tail and rocks Jordache jeans.

Rescue #1 - As interesting as one would expect a Pepper Potts comic to be.
Sif #1 - Nice use of continuity to get the reader emotionally hooked to Sif. The writing doesn't really rise in other departments. Uninteresting side-characters and villains.
X-Force: Ain't No Dog #1 - Decent pair of stories that didn't rise above being "good enough".

Cloak and Dagger one-shot - Decent, yet enjoyable story with some nice Mark Brooks art.
Dazzler #1 - Art was alright, but the writing didn't succeed in making Dazzler a character worth further solo outings.

Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 - This was hella fun! I was pretty tired when I read it but I liked it a lot.
Avengers Arena #1 - Not bad. I only know like 4 characters but it looks like a fun read. Might get a trade.
Captain Marvel #1 - was okay but not great. Read like Johns Green Lantern with all the pilot talk.
New Avengers Vol. 2 #1 - Okay but not enough to keep me interested.

Siege: Captain America - A lot of melodrama over the family caught in the events of Siege, and Bucky's "Am I worthy to be Captain America?" drama.
Siege: Spider-Man - A bit jokey, but it's got some cool visuals; in particular, the part when Ms. Marvel pulled Mac out of the symbiote.
X-Force Annual #1 - Enjoyable, though not necessarily essential reading. The backup story was put together better than the main tale.
