I don't mind the art either Punchy, but then again, the style comic art is rarely a concern for me, with a few notable exceptions of course. I do agree with Amoebas about this version of the Yancy Street Gang -- I'm not a big fan of it either. I don't want to know the names of any individual Gang members as I feel that the concept works best as a group of faceless pranksters. It loses something when you move it beyond that.
About Tong (I guess coming out as transgender -- I'm not sure if that's exactly what's happening either
) I agree that it seems strange. With the tone conveyed by the artwork, it comes cross as not very serious. Some the reactions by other characters, Scott's, "Is that a thing they're doing now," as an example, didn't help in that regard either. Then in the same panel, Darla react with a, "Good for her," and this suggest a more serious tone. It leaves the reader not quite sure how to react. It could be that that was what fraction was going for -- I hope that's the case.
