Wolverine & The X-Men #28 (Actually cool for 5 seconds Spoil

Postby Punchy » Fri Apr 26, 2013 11:52 am

It’s the conclusion of the field-trip to the Savage Land, and what an enjoyable arc this has been. The artwork from Ramon Perez has been excellent, and it allowed Aaron to focus on a smaller grouping of his insanely large cast and give each of them a lot more character development. Hell, you could even say that Wolverine himself has grown because of this story, which is rare for him.

I think my favourite moment in this issue was the unexpected bad-ass that is Eye Boy. He’s a mutant with a power that could be considered incredibly lame, but Aaron is looking at it differently from most, and you get to see how it may actually be useful to have eyes all over yourself, not only would you have awesome aim, but you’d be able to see things others wouldn’t, like picking up on little tics like Sherlock Holmes or something. Eye Boy, the baddest man in comics, ladies and gentlemen.

Also interesting was the hint that there’s still some of Old Broo inside the mind of his current savage self, and that Quentin Quire had a moment of heroism! It’s also cool that Glob Herman has now formally defected to the Hellfire Club, and that Sauron is involved with them! That’s pretty damn exciting. What else… hmm.. oh yeah, Dog! He’s a surprisingly effective villain, because he’s not really a villain, I actually felt sorry for him in this issue, I wonder what’s next for him? It looks like next issue is set in the future, more time-travel shenanigans, which should be good, will he, or his future self, be involved?

What powers does Dog have? has to be some sort of healing factor to still be alive.

The eye-boy thing was pretty cool, and love that old Broo may still be in there somewhere, but other than that this issue and arc have fell kinda flat for me. I really don't like that they have brought back Dog, and I'm not sure who that was kicking him at the end, but I really hope it isn't another Logan. :?

Isn't it Dog himself from the future?

that's what i thought as well...

And Psivage, i don't think Dog actually has powers, they kind of explained how he was alive, by the fact that he went to the future.

In Aaron's defense, the version of Dog in the book isn't the one from Origin, it's wherever the heck in time he came from in Astonishing Spider-man/Wolverine.

actually I'm pretty sure they are the same one... they did a lot of flashbacks to the time of Origin in this arc.

Love that Sauron is back. Haven't seen him since that Avengers arc years ago when Black Widow 2 shot him and then he burned her face off in revenge.

Which was the highlight of that issue for me as I hated Black Widow 2. I would have been happier if Sauron had fed her to a T-Rex instead. Plus, the last I checked Osborn had her in stasis in Dark Reign if memory serves me.

yeah which is even funnier considering what Osborn did to himself trying to redo what had been done to her.

Idiot move Osborn.

Yeah, not one of his best highlights in Dark Reign. Assuming he hadn't botched that thing up with Yelena I do believe he would have made her part of the Dark Avengers as the Dark Black Widow for better or worst.
