C2E2: Mars Attacks Judge Dredd

Mars box office totals for 2012's Dredd are finally in, and the movie was both a financial and critical failure.

Source: Press Release

When last year's Karl Urban Judge Dredd movie, simply titled Dredd, failed to perform at the box office last year, we weren't really surprised. The general disinterest that the movie invoked in the U.S. and elsewhere on Earth, however, was nothing compared to the reaction to the film on the planet Mars.

IDW Comics somehow got ahold of the box office results, because they announced at C2E2 this weekend that the Red Planet has launched an actual invasion on the movie. In a press release titled "Simply Put, MARS ATTACKS JUDGE DREDD!,"  IDW explained the situation:

"An army of angry green men bent on galactic conquest have landed in Mega-City One, but they didn’t count on the grizzled lawmaking legend of Judge Dredd standing in their way," the press release reads.

"The skeptics say it’s one man versus an army, but obviously those naysayers don’t know the Judge named… Dredd!" it continues.

It is unknown at this time how the planet Mars was able to launch an attack on a fictional property, but they do posess alien technology that is incomprehensible to all but the most advanced human intelligences, such as Tony Stark and James Cameron. In addition, it has been proven in the past that such a thing is possible, in examples like DC Comics's attack on Alan Moore's Watchmen property with their Before Watchmen prequel humiliation campaign.

The Outhouse will keep you updated on this developing situation. Here's the press release:

Simply Put, MARS ATTACKS JUDGE DREDD!

This Mega-City ain’t big enough for the both of ‘em

San Diego, CA (April 27, 2013) – Step on up and place your bets, folks! An army of angry green men bent on galactic conquest have landed in Mega-City One, but they didn’t count on the grizzled lawmaking legend of Judge Dredd standing in their way.

The skeptics say it’s one man versus an army, but obviously those naysayers don’t know the Judge named… Dredd!

It’s a September to remember! It’s bug eyes and disintegration rays versus a fully loaded Lawgiver and a zero-tolerance attitude in the Brawl for the Sprawl!

Get your tickets early, fight fans, because this September, MARS ATTACKS JUDGE DREDD!

You can pay for the whole seat, but you’ll only need the edge as these towering titans of total destruction do battle over four rounds of pulse-pounding punishment and crazed collateral damage!

Written by veteran Dredd writer “Action” Al Ewing, drawn by Mars Attacks’ “Joltin’” John McCrea, and sporting covers by “Gorgeous” Greg Staples, these villainous Martians are in for the fight of their lives when they take on Mega-City One’s favorite son.

Be on the lookout this September and pick up issue #1 at your local comic shop… IF IT’S STILL STANDING!
