EW (Sort of) Confirms Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver in Avengers 2

An article in the new issue confirms that the two mutants are in the current draft of the script.

Source: EW

All that Internet speculation might be right for once after all.  EW is confirming that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are set to appear in Avengers 2.  The characters were first hinted at by Joss Whedon, who mentioned a "brother/sister act" would be appearing in the next film.  Most people presumed that Whedon was talking about the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, the former of which was responsible for the near annihilation of the mutant race while the latter is a bit of a prick. They're also mutants and the children of Magneto, but don't expect that to come up in the movie, as Fox owns the movie rights to the concept of "Marvel mutants".

While Kevin Feige wouldn't confirm the rumor, he did warn EW that "the draft could change six months from now", referencing the fact that the Wasp was originally going to appear in the first Avengers movie.

So, who do you want to play the pair in the movie?  My money's on the Bateman siblings.

I don't really have a good explanation for why but Harry Lloyd immediately comes to mind when I think of somebody who could play Quicksilver.

The only other prick speedster in the MU is Northstar and his a Quebecer... plus a French one at that.. major prick.

Hmmm, Was the Whizzer a prick too? Is this a Marvel thing with speedsters?

Wanda & Pietro have such a boring set of powers. Sure, using Pietro is a "Fuck you, DC" but most people will still see Quicksilver as a Flash ripoff. Wanda... she's just useless. She's going to wave her hands around and... what? Point to her uterus when a killer android attacks?

As to who could play them - reunite the Targaryen siblings. Emilia Clarke & Harry Loyd

I guess a Doctor Strange movie would be unwatchable in your world. :-D

Nooooo, not at all. I would be stoked for a Dr. Strange, Clea, Mordru... any of the real mages. Just not Wanda.

Dr. Strange's powers are visually trippy and have awesome catch phrases. Wanda just has pink globs that... um... change probability? "Ha! I increased the odds of that shelf falling on your head, Thanos!"
Does she even say anything beyond unnecessary exposition? (I'm not counting the 90s cartoon.)

Not bad. James Marsters definitely has the right frame and look to play Pietro but the man is 50 years old!

Yea thats what i was thinking. he's way to old to play a character thats always been portrayed younger in late teens early 20s.

If Pietro and Wanda are included in the Avengers sequel, I suspect that they will be portrayed somewhere between 23-27 years old. They'll be younger than the rest of the Avengers and of course they will believe that they are better than them.

Can you imagine the media's reaction if they choose to include the incestuous overtones between the siblings? How long before FOX News starts claiming that Hollywood is pushing an "Incest Agenda?"
