Hey all..

It's been awhile, I think one of the last times I was here I asked y'all about The Legion runs, and JSA.

Your help with the JSA suggestions paid off! I'm on vol. 6 now I believe and loving every minute of it! You didn't steer me wrong! :-D

So..with that said, I've got something of what I hope is special for you. I'm working on a feature/article with the legendary Steve, The Dude Rude.

I'm looking to The Dude's fans to pick the top 5 works of Steve Rude that will be included in the article on the front page. Feel free to include links or images to support your pick. All entries and suggestions will be noted. I'll pick the obvious top five and maybe include one or two others if they stand out.

Deal?

Thanks in advance and I hope we can show them D.C. suits how we roll!

Thor Godstorm could make the list, but I never got to look at more then a few pages at the time.

You guys are killing it! keep it coming! I love the Joe Casey/Steve Rude run of children of the Atom...I gushed to Casey about it so much at a show.

What about the back up stories in Classic X-men? No one's got love for those? Those are my favorite!

I never really saw those back up stories. So no view on them. For me it's based on what I've read and that was that there.
Rude really never seemed to be much more then do art with the exceptions of Nexus which he co-plotted at times (I think)
and The Moth that he did more than just artwork on. Art wise... his stuff is amazing but also... it's barely changed since he began.
This is either a really amazing good thing or a really bad thing... can't figure the answer on that one.

Really, my first calls it for me. His other work is a joy and a must, but Nexus goes to the next level for me. When he did not do the art on it, it was like going from a steak to a cheap hamburger. Nothing against those other artists, but Rude had that affect on me with the characters.

I have always loved the Dude's work since I first saw a Pacific Comics short story about an encyclopedia salesman. I found Nexus a couple weeks later and that was it.

He hasn't had a lot of regular assignments outside of those mentioned already, so it's hard to keep naming them. He's done so many great individual pieces over the years however...

Steve's passion for the Silver Age, Alex Toth and Jack Kirby mirrors my own - so he's a natural to be one of my all time favorites.

But Nexus will always be #1

It was great watching him grow on Nexus. I really liked his stuff early, but wow - I loved him later

The earliest stuff always reminds me of George Freeman's work.

Speaking of Nexus, what's a good reliable reading order or chronology for someone who wants to read the series?

I'm on amazon looking at 2 Omnibus's that are decently priced/affordable then they have the hardcovers that are pretty costly.
