I do love that the kids aren't idiots so far. They're definitely smarter than the little shits that the other clara looked after.

Next week is Gaiman's second episode and looks awesome. 8)

Trouble at t'mill. The t' is very important. It's not pronounced, but the glottal stop is there.

And yes Cat-Scratch, scissor grenades.

There are sadly only a few more episodes of this season left. :-(

Then we wait until fall for the 50th Anniversary Special... with the David Tennant returning... yet still no Paul McGann. :-(

Even though I am intrigued by the circumstances and mystery surrounding her, I find that I just don't like Clara that much. She is probably my least favorite companion of the Doctor since the show's revival in 2005.

She's moved up to #5 in my ranking...
Rose
Amy
Captain Jack
Rory
Clara

I love Wilfred!

I guess if I were going to rate the companions, I would say:

1.) Amy and Rory (Tie)
2.) Captain Jack
3.) Rose
4.) Wilfred
5.) Donna
6.) River
7.) Mickey
8.) Martha
9.) Clara

I'll throw Mickey and River just ahead of Donna (I just never 'got' her).

I liked Donna because she wasn't trying to throw herself at the Doctor all the time. She got on my nerves from time to time but she served a good purpose, which was just being a friend when that was what the Doctor really needed.

I like Clara. She's the first to stump the Doctor for interesting reasons. Who and what is she really?

Mind you, you have to wonder, with all the other companions since the return, what must they all be special to the Doctor?

Depends on how you define "special". With the exception Tennants farewell tour, he never really gave Martha another thought once she left.

True, she was not like Rose or Donna or Amy where they became important parts of the stories as well as part of the Doctor's life. After all, he fell in love with Rose and Amy was a strange best friend/mother-in-law combination. Donna's granddad was an important part of the Doctor's life in the end.

I still suspect that Clara may well turn out to have a connection to nostalgia of the classic era. Spitballing -

She's Susan
She's Susan's daughter.
She's a new Guardian. (Recall the Black and White Guardians from the Key To Time saga)
She's Romana.
She's The Rani.
She's The Doctor's other daughter.
She's Susan's grandmother.
She's the beginning or re-beginning of the Time Lords.
She's the Key To Time.

She could also bea Jagaroth for all we know.

Actually, what do we know?

There's the 'girl in a shop' that gave Clara the Doctor's phone number.
Clara's last name is Oswald - Dalek Clara's her shipmate was called Harvey - Doctor who first aired the day after JFK's assasination.
The Doctor has met her in four time periods where she is linked beyond appearance and characteristics...
Future: Likes souffles. Says 'Run you clever boy and remember.'
Past: Like souffles. Takes care of kids. Says 'Run you clever boy and remember"
Present: Takes care of kids, greatest childhood fear was getting lost. Password is "RYCBAR"
A few years ago: often loses things
