I wouldn't doubt it. The Weinsteins picked up Kite for some reason.

Interesting...

Shout! Factory to Release "Ultra Q" Tokusatsu TV Series This August

Fans of classic tokusatsu (special effects) television have something new to look forward to on the domestic front. Shout! Factory officially opened pre-orders for Ultra Q, the 1966 show that kicked off the Ultra series prior to Ultraman.

Renowned director and effects master Eiji Tsuburaya's 28-episode series offers up Twilight Zone-esque chapters that play out like self-contained mystery kaiju films. Shout! Factory's 6-disc set includes the complete series, digitally remastered in color. Some have taken issue with the fact that it's not coming out in its original black and white format, but this is a fantastic series either way.

Garo is pretty good so far. Loved the bar fight scene in episode 4. Well done.

No, but I have it. And the movies, but not the first series.

First series got a lot of praise so I checked it out. I watched only a few episodes (6 or 7?). I found it a little too dour for my tastes. Though I saw potential for good stuff.

Makai Senki is better to me so far. I'm interested in finishing it and then moving on to the new series.

Takashi Miike To Remake Influential Dead Wet Girl Horror "Yotsuya Kaidan"

In the 19th century, Yotsuya Kaidan was staged as a kabuki play along side the story of the 47 Ronin. The story of the vengeful spirit of a samurai's betrayed wife first became a movie in 1912, then was adapted about 18 times in the next two decades, and over 30 times to date. No stranger to remakes, the ever prolific Takashi Miike (13 Assassins) has now taken on what's probably the most influential dead wet girl horror story (think The Ring).

47 Ronin was a good film. I must rewatch it.

Kamen Teacher Manga by GTO's Fujisawa Gets Live-Action Show

Kis-My-Ft2 idol group member Taisuke Fujigaya will star in this summer's live-action television adaptation of Kamen Teacher, a manga by GTO creator Tohru Fujisawa. The titular role will be the first teacher role for Fujigaya, as well as his first special-effects (tokusatsu) and motorcycle action role. The story blends elements of school drama and hero action genres.

The manga centers around Gōta Araki, a special Instructor in the Kamen Teacher Program which gives problem schools a complete overhaul. When he dons a mask, Araki becomes "Kamen Teacher Hayato Jūmonji," a hero for justice. He brings light to troubled schools by putting down delinquents.
