Sounds like a BS for fun. Mind you.. one word - Valyard.

I also doubt that they will reveal who the Doctor really is. It makes no sense.

Besides, I already know that his real name is James "Logan" Howlett.

I still want to see Paul McGann return as the Doctor.

I was reading some of the responses there... amazing how so many bad mouth McCoy's Doctor and yet, the whole Dr Who is someone really important to the Time Lords is from the McCoy era.

Plus, there would still be one more Doctor anyway IF this is true. Add to this that it could be explained that he was "charged with more" regenerations by River Song. Or during the Time War by Rasalon. :smt102

Perhaps he is the Paul McGann doctor, just several years on.

They could have just gotten the real deal though.

I also suspect that he could be a future Doctor that will no longer exist afterwards.

Then again, there are all those theories about the Doctor being something more then he is and that the Brain of Morbius scenes with past lives... really were past lives of the Doctor's. The Doctor really has no limits to regeneration.

Until the relaunch the Doctor did have a limit: twelve. And he's on number eleven.

BTW, I'm okay with the Iron Man version of the Cybermen, but just okay with it. Nothing special.

As for McGann, Hurt will bring the series a lot more press than an actor who played the Doctor once a long time ago. But, of course, it's all speculation

By the old rules of 12 regenerations, he'd have two left, not one.

Unless John Hurt is playing a missing Doctor, of course.

I thought the Gaiman episode was pretty crap, I'm disappointed.

Give it a second watch. I wasn't crazy about it first time around, but on a second viewing I liked it much more.

That's right. The first one wasn't a regeneration. It was the original.

13 lives total.

BUT!

Back in the day they did plant escape hatches, such as in Five Doctors where the High Council could give additional regenerations.
Also there, Rasalon knew the secret of immortality, something that was said to be a trap by view of the Time Lords.

Theory -

That could mean endless regenerations and that a block was created by Rasalon on all Time Lords, a secret given to the High Council. Time War... Rasalon returns... decides that all the Time Lord soldiers need greater ability to survive... The Doctor was a soldier in that war... The Doctor can endlessly regenerate.
