ABC is aiming high with Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.  The network announced that the new TV series will air at 8 PM on Tuesdays, which puts it in the same time slot as CBS juggernaut NCIS.  ABC seems to think that the show will do well against NCIS, which has stood atop the ratings for several years. in No premiere date has been set, but we'll be sure to give you an update when that happens.

In related ABC news, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, the Once Upon a Time spinoff, will debut this Fall on Thursdays, while Once stays in its original timeslot on Sunday evenings.

tough competition, but maybe it can put a dent into NCIS's ratings :)

its really not that hard to think that Agents of SHIELD will do better than Arrow... its on ABC which pretty much everyone can get, CW isn't in every broadcast market...

I would say that a show being directly spun off of a franchise that has made close to $5,000,000,000 has a pretty good chance of making a dent in the ratings of a show like NCIS. The Avengers and everything related to it is a hot commodity in Hollywood right now, people will tune in to see a show like this, especially if it's good. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Agent Coulson is in it. People like Phil Coulson.

The premise of SHIELD would be more akin to Heroes mixed with X-Files actually.

I would. There are going to be a tremendous amount of resources put behind this show, and it also has the advantages of having access to movie level effects.

I think Grayson is right that the "Avengers" tie-in will initially give this show a boost. However since we probably won't actually ever see any Avengers (except in quick flashes) in it may also be entirely on Coulson's character to carry it. Other than hard-aging Ming-Na Wen, his team seems like the typical generic young upstarts. Here's hoping they can pull a "Leverage" and give them cool character traits.

which like i said is typically not the same audience as NCIS... NCIS's main demographic skews much older than the demographic that ABC is likely going to aim for...
