Jon Hamm has signed on to provide a voice in Illumination Entertainment's Minions, which Universal Pictures will release on Friday, December 19, 2014.
In the spin-off of the successful Despicable Me franchise, Hamm will voice Herb Overkill, husband to super-villainess Scarlet Overkill (voiced by Sandra Bullock). The film follows the unpredictably hilarious Minions, who rocketed to worldwide popularity in 2010's Despicable Me, and who will next be seen in this summer's Despicable Me 2.
In Minions, we discover that Minions have actually existed throughout history, always seeking out the most despicable master to serve. At a time before they met their current boss Gru, the Minions encountered Scarlet Overkill, a stylish and bad-ass super-villain bent on world domination.
Previously on DVD starting in 2004 by GoodTimes Entertainment, the is back on disc this August 13th with two releases: Totally Spies - Season 1, Volume 1 AND Totally Spies - Season 1, Volume 2. This is just ahead of Cartoon Network's debut in September of the all-new sixth season of the animated series, so the timing couldn't be better! The distributor, New Video Group, is pricing these 2-disc sets at $19.95 SRP each
Who knew voicing an animated character could be so dramatic? Al Pacino has officially dropped out of Despicable Me 2 over "creative differences," for whatever that's worth.
So who's stepping in to voice the film's villain, Eduardo? Deadline reports that Benjamin Bratt has signed on to the sequel. As far as we know, the Universal/Illumination project is still on track for a July 3, 2013 release.
After raising the ire of critics online, The Walt Disney Company quickly backed away today from its move to quietly trademark “Dia de los Muertos” for an upcoming Pixar animated feature. Criticism exploded on social media in recent days as word spread of Disney’s efforts to trademark the name associated with the November holiday. Although the studio still is moving forward on its Pixar project inspired by Mexican Day of the Dead celebrations, it has withdrawn its application to trademark “Dia de los Muertos” for various merchandising applications.
