Bendis's issues with heroes seems to be he relishes the gray area/middle ground.
Conflict can happen between characters without leading to either character venturing into villainous territory.
I know this and you know this, but I think Marvel's forgotten this.
I'm not saying heroes have to see eye to eye all the time but it'd be nice to have an event without heroes trying to kill each other.
It's like they tried the concept in Civil War & they liked it so much they decided to reuse it in varying degrees in World War Hulk, Fear Itself, Age of Ultron, AvX, etc.
Who was the villain in:
House of M? Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver
WWH? Hulk or the Illuminati
AvX? Scott Summers, the Phoenix Five & (for some reason) Magneto
FI? Hulk & Thing were possesed by evil hammers
AoU? Wolverine & the Invisible Woman kill Pym, Red Hulk kills Taskmaster for no reason
SI? Heroes are mistrusting each other, aliens look like heroes
CW? Cap's side or Iron Man's side, the Thor clone that killed Black Goliath
And I'm sure there's more.
