Star Trek Into Darkness Thread (Spoilers)

Postby syxxpakk » Fri May 17, 2013 8:24 pm

I won't spoil anything, but others likely will. Holy shit this movie is AWESOME. First one since the summer season started that I'm ready to see again right now.

I read the Wikipedia entry on it.

Sounds like more of the same as last time.

So, the Enterprise will meet a giant enemy ship that can out gun it, then the enemy will loose power, the Enterprise will pound it to hell and it'll fall down and go boom.

Kirk will be McCoy's victim with drugging.

Kirk will be bedding hot women.

Spock will piss off Kirk, but it'll be okay 'cause by end, they are the bestest buds.

Buildings, space ships and more will change size from shot to shot lens flare filled shot.

Kirk and Spock or someone with Kirk will have to go enter an enemy stronghold to get someone
and sabotage something.

Scotty will have problems with the Enterprise's engine(s).

Kirk will be yelled at by a senior officer, but will still be made a Captain of the Enterprise.

boo-yah.

Here's the thing that is bothering me.

IF this is the last one he does, are they rebooting the franchise? IF so, then this is bad and very bad. He got rid of the Saturday morning pretty of the previous productions, nothing wrong with those but.... ; he got a great cast for the characters; he gets the characters for the most part AND I am already sick of fast turn arounds with departing film runners.

The last one was a fun though flawed film, but FUN and had enough TREK in it to be Trek for me.

he's said he may not direct it, but Bad Robot would still produce it so i don't think it necessarily will be rebooted...

Good. Get a better director that will work with what he's done and build in more of what was left behind with classic Trek.

Or simply, please Person Of Interest this franchise.

Good god this movie was awesome.

I don't get the hate other than just the same crabby people that didn't like the reboot to begin with. But as a guy that grew up on trek and has probably seen every ep of every version of the shows and all the movies; I loved it. On a whole other level from what trek used to be.

It would be a good time to reboot it or go in another direction for the next film. 50th anniversary and all.

So you are saying it doesn't play as stupid as the story reads in text?

I hope you are right.

Neither do I. Cat's been the most vocal that I've seen and he hasn't seen the movie (he's just read wikipedia  ).

It's a great movie. Worth seeing a second time in the threatre.
