Doctor Who has never been 'hard' sci-fi really.
Its ridiculousness is a major part of its charm.
Sort of yes, but this is a much different Who than I grew up with and skews further into emo territory. Like a lot of shows do these days. It's much easier for love and a leaf to save the day in the end, but it's not necessarily better writing, or at least not writing that I'm going to want to watch several times or in the future. Too many shows do it, another problem.
The best bit was the opening snippet of Gallifrey, but it was about 4 seconds long.
