Batbooks to Crossover into Zero Year in November

The event will be similar to Night of the Owls and Death of the Family.

Source: Parallel Worlds

The New York Post (via their Parallel Worlds blog) revealed that most of DC's Batbooks would be crossing into Scott Snyder's latest storyline, Zero Year, in November.  According to Snyder, the Batbook writers felt that there was an opportunity to show what Batman's supporting cast was doing during Zero Year, which led to the mini-crossover.

Here's Snyder on how the crossover was conceived.

I was writing it as a singular story and some of other writers asked with the Bat-characters in particular, if they might be able to show where their characters were during this kind of seminal moment in the story, when Gotham is at a very dangerous moment.

This marks the third major Snyder storyline to crossover into the rest of the Batline, and is the second this year.  No word on whether the covers for the tie-ins will be embossed, die-cut, or 3D.

This is why I dropped all the Batbooks. Too many fucking crossovers. Is this the third one now?

I am pretty happy about this move. I thought the Court of Owls and Death of the Family tie-ins were all good and it showcases well the shared universe. It also makes the other writers up their game to try and compete and exceed the writing of Snyder. And I think finding out a bit more about the history of Barbara, Tim and Jason etc in the NEW 52 is an exciting prospect.
And on a side note, get Tynion off Red Hood. It has went from being one of my fave DC books to beign a book I might consider dropping (never thought about that when Lobdell was writing it).
And on a 2nd side note - no Harvest in Villains month ???? WTF

I can't think of one book not named Batman that was necessary for any story thus far

this isn't even a crossover in the sense that the story will be continued in a different book

Doesn't matter. If there's a trade dress advertising some event, I feel compelled to read all the issues. I'd rather just avoid the whole thing.

Yeah this doesn't seem like a crossover so much as an event similar to the #0 issues where the stories will have similar themes.

Fourth, but on the bright side this is like the #0 issue. Just more padding of the "soft reboot" of the Batman Universe. Only designed to drive fans of Dick Grayson and "Tim Drake" into a blood curling rage.

Dropping Detective and Dark Knight like hot rocks if this happens. I'm only reading them because I want a Snyder-less Batman book.

I wish Snyder was writing both of them, actually.

Makes it seem worse, it’s redundant. :P

I don't think it'll be redundant. When I was saying that it'll be similar to the #0 issues, I meant that the #0 issues were a theme that traveled across the DC line. Similarly, I think Year Zero will do the same. It won't be like Night of the Owls or Death of a Family, where it's interconnected, but rather like #0 issues or maybe even Villain month or those old "Week 5" books where everyone would be apes and shit.

Techincally, if we go by New 52 time-line Damian was already conceived and sparring with Talia. So.. no. No I'm not going to explain further. To explain further would only harm your mind into how still screwed DC continuity is.
