On Friday, DC revealed the new look Doomsday would be sporting in the Villains Month spotlight issue of Batman/Superman:
Additionally, here's what DC Head Honcho and the man attempting to go two for two in bankrupting comic book companies, Bob Harras had to say:
You already know that this September, one of the Villains starring in his own special one-shot will be the infamous Doomsday.
But who is Doomsday? In The New 52, the legends surrounding this character have become stories told to terrify Kryptonians. Nobody knows who created him, where he comes from, or even dares to utter his name louder than in a whisper. But are the various myths about what the Doomsday creature is real? Was he really let loose on an army? And if nobody knows the truth behind this villain’s origin, is there really a way to stop him?
See you next week,
Doomsday started out as an x-treme nineties character. How do you take an x-treme nineties character and, against the very laws of physics and nature, somehow make him so much more x-treme? It's x-tremely x-treme! X-treme squared! X-X-TREME-TREME!
One can only imagine what formerly beloved character with a new extreme and terrifying design DC will unleash next upon its weary and beleaguered fanbase. It almost makes this reporter glad they have such irrational contempt for Wally West, Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain, and other toxic characters, which actually spares them from a terrible fate.
The horror of just thinking of it. Just imagine the 90s x-tremity that could be inflicted upon them. Inhuman, anatomically impossible bodies. Overly dramatic new origins shrouded in MYSTERY!!! The high collar. Oh that damn, damn high collar that Jim Lee so loves. The contradictory, convoluted, confusing character regression due to last minute editorial mandates. The pouches. Sweet lord almighty, the pouches.
They call me inhuman... They call me monster. [Editor's note: A man. Yessss. Was onccce a man.] What's monstrous is what's being done to the hapless and innocent characters of the DC Universe.
The horror... The horror....
