actually Wrath of the First Lanterns WERE labeled part 1, part 2, it crossover into each title...

That's just a label, the actual comics weren't that connected.

On the other hand, if this gets rid of Johns' technicolor lanterns, that would be a plus.

DC has other internal problems with the crossover fetish being the least actually.

The various colour Corps have made DC money, why on Earth (and Oa) would they get rid of them?

It's not an assumption. The GL titles are a family of books. Tiny and larger pieces flow between them all the time.

Because then they would please three unhappy Outhouse posters, who also happen to pine for the riotous return of Evil Star and the Starlings :P

OK, so I think I'm going to try GL: New Guardians tomorrow now that a few of y'all have weighed in and said that GL titles are standalone during crossovers.

Question: Is New Guardians 0 necessary for any updates to Kyle's origin?

Oh yeah, its only DC that has a problem with crossovers. Keep stroking that Bendis ego.

name the last major crossover event that Marvel did, keeping in mind this time that crossovers and events contained in mini-series and tie-ins are not the same thing.

This year alone Marvel had X-Terimination between Astonishing, X-Treme and Age of Apocalypse, The Enemy Within between Avengers Assemble and Captain Marvel, and the upcoming Battle of the Atom between the four primary X-Men books. They also brought us two major events in Age of Ultron and the upcoming Infinity. So no. DC isn't the only one with a problem.

Not saying that Marvel doesn't have a problem... but what you are describing is a little different.

You listed crossovers for different titles. For instance, yes Astonishing was part of a crossover event. However, it wasn't part of more than one so close to that one. GL has been on constant different events for over a year.
