Live in the suburbs. Lots of critters here. Rats, opossums, raccoons, rabbits, hawks, crows, vultures, hummingbirds, mocking birds, coyotes---which can be a problem, since they can be dangerous. Never seen a rattler though. Or a scorpion. We do get the occasional large millipede.

And in certain nearby areas, there's the occasional mountain lion or bear. Enough so that it's prudent never to go jogging or bike riding on the local trails alone, or at the wrong time of day. People get dragged off by the lions every couple of years. Once in a while, someone even manages to escape.

But yes, dogs (and cats) are carnivores and will eat smaller animals. Seen it, heard it and ugh... I'm still a city boy.

That kitten in the photo died about 10 weeks after that picture was taken.

My dog just won a contest that confirms his awesomeness. I will be posting a thread about it tonight.

my sister bought some cat last fall, it had cat aids or something. She bought all this medicine and really tried to help it, but it ended up getting killed by the vet out of mercy just the same.

I'd almost feel bad if it weren't a cat.

That's called euthanasia or to put it gentler putting it to sleep/down. Not killing.

Cat, have you SEEN my other FB friends?!? I don't want to piss them off...

Paul Levitz would have a heart attack.

However, my TWO dogs are completely awesome. Buddy---he's the one with the bandit mask on one of those pictures Cat, is the Hulk's dog in The Incredible Hulk---in the favela scene.

My other dog Max, was rescued by Kevin Costner! Well, not exactly. He was however Superman's dog!

Which is to say, they're both Queensland Heelers, and Buddy is a dead ringer for the one in the Hulk, while Max looks exactly like the one in Man of Steel.

I guess that breed is trainable and photogenic.
