BOOM! Studios Acquires Archaia

BOOM! Studios Acquires Archaia

'Tis a merger of the indies.

Source: Deadline

Deadline is reporting that BOOM! Studios has acquired Archaia Comics.  Archaia, which controls properties such as Rust, Mouse Guard, and Cowboy will live on as an imprint of BOOM!  Deadline notes that the move positions BOOM! to move up in the world of comic books, especially in terms of IP properties that are able to be adapted into movies.  Both BOOM! and Archaia have multiple movies in production, including 2 Guns, which marks Boom's first foray into movies.

Obviously, we'll keep you updated on what could be one of the bigger stories of the summer.

I like this news, both studios have been doing great stuff and it will be interesting to see what they can do together.

I'm not really opposed to it, but I wonder what the imprint represents? Is it a specific genre or style?
