Yeah, Image has some really good titles. It took me years to give them a chance, since all I knew was those awful 90s series.

Issue #1 was the tenth highest selling comic book for the month. I guess some people cared.

I cared. I bought it.

Kick-Ass would sell well anywhere.

Looking at something like Powers is a better comparison.

Powers: The Bureau #4 sold 11,441 copies in May.
Fatale #14 sold 17,557 that same month.

Maybe part of that might be that people just don't care about Powers and its erratic release schedule anymore, but that is still a sizeable gulf. Fatale is selling on-par with some mid-tier Big 2 titles.

Good point, other Icon books must have similar figures (Brilliant and Scarlet have also suffered from erratic schedules).

I don't think I've ever even seen an issue of Powers at any LCS, I read the first trade and was unimpressed. Fatale is everywhere.

I enjoyed Powers up 'till the monkey fucking issue. I liked the subsequent issues. But after that, after they showed Walker's origin... it just wasn't the same.

Dropped it after that. Haven't heard anything about the new series.

I love Powers. But I read it exclusively in trade form.

Fatale sales are impressive for an indie title. It is not on par with Marvel and DC's mid-tier titles. It's in the Journey Into Mystery, Phantom Stranger and Gambit territory. That's cancellation territory.

IIRC, it might be a flashback dealing with Walker's immortality, going back to caveman days.

The issue is devoted to showing Walker when he was this ape-ish neanderthal creature. And yes, there's "monkey" fucking.

That was actually a really good arc that revealed a lot of Walker's backstory.

WTF, Bendis??

Also, if he's an ape-like creature who is immortal, why does he look like a normal human after that?

I don't know.

The arc starts at the Dawn of Man, with the monkey fucking issue. The next issue is presumably hundreds of thousands of years later, and he's a Conan-esque dude now.
