UPDATE!!! (update update update)
Jude Terror here with an update on yesterday's Ales Kot story. It seems some proactive fans took to Twitter to ask Dan Didio himself what the hell DC is thinking getting rid of beloved writer Ales Kot, who was replaced by equally beloved but still unexpected Matt Kindt on Suicide Squad #24. Didio tried to play dumb, then immediately slipped into corporate double-speak, claiming that the creative change was planned from the start and that Matt Kindt is integral to Forever Evil. After he's asked why niether Kot nor Kindt are saying it was planned from the start, why Kot seemed displeased by the news of his own departure, and why DC declined to comment on Newsarama's story about Kot's departure this morning, Didio stopped replying (at least at the time of this writing).
Here's a screenshot, taken last night:
Damn, dude. What are you, the US Government? Are you a goddamn pod person? Why can't you answer a question? It must be impossible to work with you.
"Hey Dan, what do you want to have for lunch today?"
"Food is delicious. I definitely eat food. Like a person."
"What? That wasn't the question."
"LOL Jude. Three balanced meals are are important for your health, and DC Entertainment supports health."
Just answer a direct question and be honest. Why was Ales Kot replaced? As was pointed out, promotion for Suicide Squad prior to this implied Kot's run would be more long-term, and the behavior from everyone involved makes it obvious this wasn't "planned."
Kot also seems confused about the whole exchange:
So what happened? Did you have a falling out? Did you just want to go in a different direction? Do you feel it's none of our business? Just say that.
The truth will set you free, Dan.
