I'm not fond of the concept that the Wizard had to settle for Billy Batson because Billy convinced him that the type of person he was looking for didn't exist. That's absolutely ridiculous.

My real problem is that Johns is one of the few writers that has shown in the past that he can write a decent Captain Marvel as evidenced in JSA.

This most certainly isn't it.

How would you know? You're just a nostalgia whore, sniffing a dog's ass looking for familiarity.

Except for the part where that type of person doesn't really exist.

Cliches are bad, not something to be embraced.

This is the best version of Billy Batson yet, certainly a lot closer to his Fawcett incarnation than ever before

Here's a better question: How about you make some god damn sense for once in your life?

Seriously, by the end, Billy was basically the classic Captain Marvel we all know and love.

The Billy I know and love was NEVER a Jerk@$$, not even before he got his powers. Classic Billy NEVER let being an orphan get him down and make him turn on other people like NuBilly did. Automatic FAIL.

What "classic Captain Marvel" are YOU talking about?? One of Marvel Comics'?? 'Cause it sure ain't the pre-DiDio Fawcett/DC character...

Ya, but nobody cares what you fell in love with. DC isn't cranking out fan-fiction for basement dwelling man-children form the 70's.

Just because you don't know somebody like that, doesn't mean that they don't exist. I can say with 100% certainty that I know several people, from children to adults and all types of different backgrounds, who would be excellent examples of the type of person that the Wizard is looking for.

Do you need me to explain how nostalgia works? I just started reading Fawcett issues a couple years ago, how can I be nostalgic for something that wasn't a part of my past?

Anyone else catch that the two characters who get killed are the ones fighting each other on the cover ?

If you say so. I doubt I would want to read about your perfect candidate anymore than I would want to read about perfect Billy.
