Is anybody but me actually loving the Superman books right now?

I read a bunch of them last night and I think this New Krypton story is pretty fucking awesome.

I actually think these 2 epilogue issues are better than New Krypton proper.

But I am still unsure about the future, we only just had a 'Year Without Superman' in 52, so it seems redundant, but the replacements they have in mind, Mon-El and the Guardian seem promising.

Overall, the Superman books are good, and are probably the only decent DC books.

I disapprove of wasting Gary Frank on another origin, pointless, Birthright was fine, it's just Johns getting his way again.

The whole "leaving the Earth for x time" reeks of "Superman Returns". I think Zod has some potential. I have no interest in Mon-El.

Superman Returns? Try Superman Exile.

Johns and Robinson have done the impossible and made me care about Supes.

I liked New Krypton but it wasn't as good as I had imagined. It seemed like a really cool idea but kinda fizzled in the execution. There was very little meat to the actual story. In retrospect it was all setup. But this past two parter between Supes and Action was great. I'm pumped for the secondary characters to take over.

But I agree with Punch. Wasting Gary Frank on another Supes origin story is retarded.

It's just getting embarrassing how DC is pushing out a 'new & official' Superman origin every so often. Look at Batman--he doesn't need a new origin story; neither should Superman. Quit nitpicking the details and focus on *now*.

But that'd mean coming up with new ideas!

Well, at least there's Final Legends, Final New Guardians, Final Challenge!, Final Day of Judgment and Final Panic in the Sky they still can come out with...

I'm loving Superman right now. Robinson is hitting his stride. Will get Johns & Frank's origin. And I will check out the New Krypton book coming out this week.

uh... in a way I agree with you. It isn't that important, but unfortunately Birthright and Byrne are the last two origins and the fans clammored at cons for Supes' Origin and as usual, DC took that the wrong way. I am pretty sure the fans wanted one of them five page filler things, not a drawn out mini... but at the same time, it would be cool to see what Johns does for it and I am all for Franks drawing Supes period. Hopefully, Johns will give us a definitive version and the publisher can let it rest for a while.

I dropped both Superman and Action Comics because of the recent changes to the books. I don't like that they killed off Pa Kent, brought back the Kandorians, and shipped off Supes to their new planet. None of those idead interest me.
