Nobody knows what he's teasing, but it looks interesting.

JJ Abrams has several projects lined up in the future: Wunderkind, Star Wars, Portal, Half-Life, Mission: Impossible 5, Star Trek 3, a Cloverfield Sequel, but who knows if this is even teasing one of those. For now, he isn't saying and all we do know is the clip is titled Stranger.

The Firelord to Hawk's Galactus
Okay so someone in the comments of an article for the trailer pointed out this book being made by JJ Abrams called 'S.'
image in the article has the same font as the "Soon He Will Know" in the trailer.
I assume now that this is promotion for the book, a movie adaptation, or the next part of the 'mystery' intended to start with the book. The book is out this fall, so I'd be willing to bet more details about what the teaser is for will be released by or around then.
EDIT: To add more evidence to the pile: Apparently one of the teases from the book was a postcard from a place on the coast of Brazil. And upon looking at the site for the book's publisher, Mulloholland Books the press release specifically refers to a promotional campaign by Bad Robot leading up to the book's release.
EDIT 2: Did a who-is doman search for 'Soon He Will Know' and found both soonhewillknow.com and soonhewillknow.net were registered to a Petunia Plasticine (who I should add does not appear to exist on Facebook or Twitter) at an address combination that doesn't exist on Google Maps. Both sites were registered three days before this teaser was released. It's also worth noting that Petunias are (at least according to Google) native to South America, where the postcard in the book teaser photo is addressed from.
EDIT 3: Thanks to /u/536e6f7764656e , who pointed out that http://www.boldfutura.net/and http://bleepbleepbloopbloop.us/
are both registered with the same info, and both (or at least Bold Futura) were used for viral marketing for Cloverfield. I was unable to parse what exactly the boldfutura domain was, as searching for other domains registered under Petunia Plasticine led to a couple URLs that were censored for some reason. Bold Futura fit into the slot that was missing.
