So Disney's answer to Skylanders just came out.

First of all... this sounds like FUN! You can start off with Captain Jack Sparrow, Mr. Incredible & Sully, but you can get other characters, too. The rest of the main characters from those movies are available, as are folks from Cars & Lone Ranger.

There's a LOT of potential here, too. They're teasing characters from Toy Story and Nightmare Before Christmas, but they've got the whole Disney library to choose from... Darkwing Duck, Uncle Scrooge, Tron, Beast, the list goes on and on.

The price is what's keeping me away, though. $75 for the game & 1st 3 characters but $15 for every other character would REALLY add up.

Of course, if they branch out to include Marvel and/or Star Wars, I might not be able to stay away.

Thoughts?

aren't skylanders generally less expensive (individually) then these?

What kind of game is it? I've seen the figures on Amazon and the selection isn't that great. If they had characters from my childhood I'd be more interested.

Got it. it's going to be a money killer but the kid loves it. lots of interesting missions per character, world building, open world exploration ... love me some Disney!

The stores I saw them in had them side by side, priced identically. :smt102

I thought I saw a post on FB about you playing it. I looked at it in the store this morning but my son is now into skylanders and I just cannot get him addicted to another toy/game set.

Me too.

I'd totally buy the Jack Sparrow one to display, but it comes with the game.

They kinda remind me of the Clone Wars figures, to be honest.

I know what you're saying, but I think we're the wrong target audience here. I think they're aiming this (mostly) towards the kids who've grown up with Pirates, the Incredibles, Cars and Monster Inc. And Disney was expecting Lone Ranger to be a bigger hit.

I think this was a good call, actually. I think it'd be a harder sell if they started out with Snow White and Peter Pan.

Maybe you'll like the upcoming figures more...

I'm not holding my breath, but I'd love to see Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck and Aladdin and Robin Hood (but that'll probably wind up being Brave instead) and...

I picked it up at the store I work at today. Can't wait to play it. I love the more adult games but its nice to have something that is fun too. I bought it with the hope that it's fun but also that Star Wars and Marvel characters will come out soon.

That is a very wise move .. we bought the game for my daughter but I'm sure I'll end up playing it more.

My guess. If this is a success they will spin it off to it own products.

I played it last night for an hour. It is a lot of fun. I doubt it'll be the kind of game that I play for hours on end but it was a fun way to end my night.
