Who decided to roll out the red carpet for the saviours? That's what I want to know.
We were the forgers of the planet, the lifters of the flame. We were the dreamers and the myth-makers. We were the inventors, and the industry and the life and the blood. We were Earth's men. Not THEM.
But it's too late now. We gave it to the aliens and to the robots and to the myths that demanded with their presence that we believe in them. And bow to them. And trust them.
We discovered the atom. We created the bomb. It was our responsibility.
It didn't have to be, not fully. Not in a world populated by the otherworldly.
We should have done all we could despite the rescuers.
But we were lazy. Their very being made us lazy.
And now its all going to blow up in our collective face.
I hate to say I told you so.
But who listens to me? I'm only human.
Survival. Perhaps that is all I can hope for at this point. Our potential was stunted when Earth became the battlefield for the rest of the cosmos.
... When the so-called Justice League of America banded together because they were unwilling to allow us to bleed and suffer and learn how to defend ourselves.
... When Earth and humanity became but suburbs to the conflicts of a Galaxy.
And we realized we were no longer alone.
