That's crazy. I grew up in a pretty small town but for awhile we had a really cool Pawn Shop that was also a Pet Store and the owner's son had a small comic shop in the back, so I was able to get my hands on some pretty cool stuff. When they closed, it was either the local drug store that had a small selection of Marvel, DC, and Image or drive an hour to the next closest comic store.

Well, thanks to that shop you found new things. For years I thought Americans only had two publishers (Marvel & DC). Good thing my father managed to buy a lot of European comics and old 2000AD progs. If not for that my passion towards comics would have been diminished...

I didn't know you were from Peru, Arion. It always amazes me how message boards and forums attract people from all over the world. It's kind of cool.

Oh yeah, but since I like to feel special I'll say I'm the only Peruvian here.

While on Vacation, I read:

It was a little of a rough start, but the art was awesome. Funny, the second bit with the not Chang art was easier to follow and more awesome as a whole, even if it didn't look as good.

Also started:

Almost done. Awesome Dan Dare story by Morrison and a great adaptation of Chandler's Goldfish. Love Hughes's art.

The Dan Dare story is great. I wrote a review about it. It's funny but I've always been a Dan Dare fan, I guess that's what happens when you grow up reading British comics.

I've read mostly the Gerry Finlay-Day / Dave Gibbons era that appeared on 2000AD decades ago.

It's not a graphic novel but I'll be starting Marvel Comics: the Untold Story when I hit the road tomorrow.

Secret Service had some good (and funny) moments. I wrote a review about it in case you're interested.

Atomic Robo Volume 4: Atomic Robo and Other Strangeness - Unfortunately the fourth volume of Atomic Robo is the shortest collection of the series so far. However, Other Strangeness makes excellent use of the space that it does have by telling 4 seemingly unconnected stories occurring over the course of a new Tesladyne employees first week on the job. I have a feeling that these stories were being used as a way to introduce characters and concepts for use later in the series but that doesn't prevent Brian Clevinger and Scott Wegener from giving us another really fun trip into the world of Atomic Robo. Oh and yeah, I'll say it; Dr. Dinosaur is one of the greatest comic creations of this century. Period.

Stormwatch v.1 – Written by Warren Ellis, otherwise there’s no way I’d have bought this. :P

It was pretty good, I know very little about the Wildstorm universe, just bits and pieces and a guy like Ellis can make it very interesting/compelling. I could get behind Wildstorm U comic with someone like him writing. I hope they do collections that follow this and then the Authority.

Art was so-so, Tom Raney has distinct style but like always it’s ok to good. I imagine the better bits were Pete Wood. Jim Lee also does an issue and I can see why Jude calls him lazy in his articles, it was an all splash page issue.
