Mother's Day - The remake with Rebecca De Morney as a mother who makes Ma Barker look like the mother from I Remember Mama. Definitely not as trashy campy or brainless as the original movie. Still, there are some pretty hard hitting (literally) violent scenes that make some decent scenes.

Robot and Frank - Showing that you can do good sci-fi without a huge budget. i really say if the future is truly bright. It certainly shows that, even in the future, aging still sucks.

Earthquake - The era of the big disaster movies with even bigger all star casts, will we ever truly see such a time again? Plus, we have John Williams entering into the truly big leagues with his score.

Gary Oldman is terrific in that film.

Thumbs down to Fifth Element.

There are tons of full-length 1970s Italian giallo films on youtube, I've been watching dozens of them.

Saw Flashpoint, other than flushing out Flash's origin, I don't really see why people think it is better than the comic, seemed pretty much the same to me.

The Great Gatsby (2014) - pretty much what I expected, except I enjoyed, unlike the book. Also fun to watch DiCaprio channel Redford.

On The Road - ugh. Boring. A shame, because I love the book.

Any good?

I've been watching my new Jason King DVDs:

Peter Wyngarde is so awesome--and he was the inspiration for the John Byrne-created X-Men character Jason Wyngarde AND Mr Six from Morrison's Invisibles.

It's kind of exciting, I've always wanted to see these shows!
