Hayao Miyazaki to Retire,

The acclaimed animated film maker will retire from the genre he reinvented and loved so well, and "The Wind Rises" will be the final feature he'll be doing.

Source: ?????????????????

Spirited Away (2001), Princess Mononoke (1997), Kiki's Magical Deliver Service (1989), and of course the Castle of Cagliostro (1979). These are but a hint of the famous animated works  known of Hayao Miyazaki. The Japanese animator so legendary of the field appears to be retiring again (he first retired right after 1997 with Mononoke, but returned four years later with Spirited).

Still, the president of Studio Ghibli (the very animated company Miyazaki helped co-found to make),  Koji Hoshino announced (news site NHK specifically states films all together) today at the Venice Film Festival  that the legendary film maker will be retiring again and that The Wind Rises will be his last film (the movie just opened last month in Japan and it's unknown when the film will come ot America, other than Disney is once again distributing it).

So the death of real non-3d cgi animation is inevitable now.

A sad day. Inevitable, unfortunately, and not at all surprising, but still sad.

Spirited Away is a fantastic film, maybe a top 10 film.

Porco Rosso is also very awesome, so much fun.
