Grand Theft Auto 5

Postby Chris » Tue Sep 17, 2013 8:16 am

Got it. Played about 30 minutes before sleep last night.

Almost instantly a better game than 4, doing away with the bullshit hand holding missions where you have to gain the favor of people in the game starting off. Instead, you're thrown right into the middle of it here with a bank heist right at the start of the game.

Got to test out switching between characters during this part and its great and instantaneous. That is going to be fun.

Shooting mechanics are WAY better. Finally. They've long been one of the worst parts of GTA games. You can free aim still but now theres an auto aim if you hold down L2/LT and you can cycle through enemies by just flicking the right thumbstick.

And switching weapons is lifted out of Max Payne 3, which is a good system so no complaints there.

So far I've only gotten to play as Michael and Trevor briefly in the opening and then you get control of Franklin for a while which is where I left off.

Lots of hilarious lines as usual. And an appearance by Little Pete from the Adventures of Pete & Pete in the opening moments of Franklin's story.

Gonna like this game a lot, I think. Cant wait to play more today.

How is the driving? Is it more realistic, like 4 was? What about the tone? More realistic or over the top?

Driving is about on par with 4. Not super realistic but not cartoony either. Maybe a little better than 4. Seems to handle better. But that might just be the few cars I tried.

Tone is the usual. Tons of satire and humor but not over the top. Its not Saints Row or anything.

Also you get special skills. Franklin can slow down time while driving, which comes in handy when youre speeding through heavy traffic or have to shoot someone from a vehicle.

you know I read somewhere (I think it was a uproxxx thing ) that GTA5 wasn't going to be a great game becuase it was "made of spare parts "
what in the hell is wrong with a developer using something they made in one of thier other games ? max payne's control scheme was awesome why not use it ?

this is from kutaku's "tips for playing " http://kotaku.com/before-you-start-tips ... 1333219413
Be Mindful of Who Is Nearby When You're Playing This GameP

(Parents, please pay attention to all of this!) Not only does GTA V vie for the world record of use of the n-word in video games—used casually and cordially among several of its black characters—but it's plenty violent. Potentially more disconcerting for the sensitive and young is the amount of raunch in the game. Interactive violence is, for better or worse, old hat. But sexy, interactive lapdances presented in a first-person view are unusual for games and just might make things awkward if you're playing the game in front of the wrong people or if you're handing the game off to someone who maybe you'd rather not have experience that.P

hahahahah
