The good thing is that I still have some money left (I was wise enough to save money each month instead of spending it all).

That's good but it sucks that you are eating away at your savings now. Hopefully you have some prospects on the horizon.

East of West vol. 1

It's neat and a cool concept but I have no idea what's going on sometimes.

Hickman did throw a lot of stuff at us in this volume, so there were a few times that I had to go back and look over things that had just happened. Oddly enough, it didn't really start happening until he introduced Xiaolian. The character really just didn't do anything for me and kinda killed some of the momentum that the book was building. Still, I really enjoyed it and I will probably start picking up the single issues if I can find them and catch up.

I agree. She was silly. I felt all that stuff with the siege of new shanghai was a bit too ludicrous.

I did not like the whole "our son is alive" twist either.

It may have been better if the story would have built up to it but it just dove right in. Most of the characters involved were making their first or second appearances, I could care less about them because I had virtually no idea who they were.

I did not like the whole "our son is alive" twist either.

I just sort of add that twist in with the Death's wife twist. If it was built up, it would have been better. Instead, we are barely introduced to one character before we are immediately told "hey, look over here! Other stuff!"

I was at Books-A-Million with an hour to kill so I "Byrne-stole" DD vol. 5 and Avengers Academy Avengers vs. X-men volume. DD was great, Waid and Samnee are an awesome team on this book. AA was fine, generic teen superhero fare. Gage is capable of so much more. I can't help it but I have a soft spot for Tom Grummet's artwork.

I've had a couple of interviews. One was very bad (they wanted me to work like 50 hours a week paying me what I used to make 6 years ago for half time), so I turned that down. The other was promising (good paycheck) but they didn't call me again.

Whatever you do, DON'T long into ByrneRobotics to confess your Byrne-stealing crime.

Anyway, I've only read Waid's first Daredevil volume. Great art, but the story wasn't as fascinating as some people said...

I've been a fan of Grummett since the old days, working on Advetures of Superman, and the Robin and Superboy .
