The Star Wars, In A Galaxy Further Away

Postby The Old Doctor » Thu Sep 19, 2013 11:49 am

Is anyone else reading this mini that adapts the "original" script by Lucas for Star Wars?

Yes, only the first issue is out, but I find it intriguing. In a sense it almost seems like a sequel. It also screams samurai drama to me and not just because it's a riff on The Hidden Fortress.

One thing I think is fersure. This never would have generated the interest in a sequel. IMO.

But what do you think?
"Why are you pointing your screwdrivers like that? They're scientific instruments, not water pistols."
"Oh, the pointing again! They're screwdrivers! What are you going to do? Assemble a cabinet at them?"
"Are you capable of speaking without flapping your hands about?"
""Timey" what? "Timey wimey"?"

As I said elsewhere, I wasn't impressed with the book for its own sake, but rather as a sort of relic of what could have been.

Both this and Jodorowsky's Dune show how differently sci-fi could have gone in the 70's.

Yeah, that one, the one that generated that thread I did not see as I was not here and could not be bothered to search for. That one.

Yup. Imagine Logan's Run re-done.
