Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Premieres Tonight

We figure a few of our readers might be planning to watch this tonight, and in case it stinks, we want your unique hits now!

Joss Whedon's highly anticipated Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series, which picks up where The Avengers left off, but with less expensive actors, premieres tonight on ABC at 8PM Eastern, and the network treated fans to one final preview last night.

Unfortunately, the show is fated to only last a season, since the petition started by The Outhouse last year failed to garner enough signatures to save it. If only we had the marketing power of a HDCDSST back then so we could have spread the word more effectively. Anyway, be sure to tune in tonight and enjoy it while it lasts!

What I've heard from people who've seen it is that it's one of the more promising Fall TV debuts, but at least so far not a home run by any measure.

I hope Hulu sends Nielsen their ratings.

Actually, millions of smart TVs and internet media devices collect and send all that stuff now.

When they're not surreptitiously recording video of you at home, that is.

Yeah, I heard it's enjoyable but not spectacular, and there's some question as to whether that'll be enough to hold an audience.

Slate just blasted it, though, for not being the answer to the modern anti-hero.

If they don't mind watching me pluck the white pubes, I'm good.

I want to see Coulson snap some necks and let bad guys die.

Well, the cast has a lot to carry in a largely pedestrian comic book TV show. If Firefly had featured a bland cast with no real chemistry together, it would not be remembered as fondly as it is today. Same with Buffy, which was actually a pretty mediocre show otherwise much of the time. And don't even get me started on Angel, which was practically unwatchable but rode Buffy's coattails for a few seasons.

Looking at who they are, I don't know if I get the feel of a Buffy or Firefly-level of smart casting.

I don't think overall this will be one of the better seasons for new TV debuts, and especially not on the networks.

The worst part about NateTV is when you floss with them after that.

Yeah, it was a real struggle to come up with new network shows that I was interested in watching this year.

Sleepy Hollow, Blacklist and this are the only hour long shows that I'm trying this year.
