Legend of Korra Moves to Nicktoons

The popular animated show will be moving from Nickelodeon to Nick Toons starting in October. UPDATE**

Starting October 9th, the Legend of Korra will begin airing new episodes exclusively on Nick Toons, starting with episode six, "The Sting". Even more surprisingly, another new episode, "Beginnings Part 1," is scheduled to air the very next day. This might even be troubling news for the show, which as, we reported a week ago, is in a ratings slump. This sudden move might be a result of that, though there is no confirmation from Nickelodeon.

We also don't know if Nick will continue airing new episodes past October 10th (no one has any episode listings for the sho past October 10th), or if they will continue to run new episodes until the show goes on hiatus (as it has done in the past with it's predecessor, Avatar: The Last Airbender). We'll update you with any more information on this developing story.

UPDATE 9/29* Zap2it.com and Comcast both list new episodes of The Legend of Korra for Nick Toons at that exact date (October 9th and 10th). TV Guide.Com only currently lists next week's episode (October 4th   "Peacekeepers").

There is a possibility this could be a scheduling error, but most of the schedules listed are following suit that Legend of Korra will air two new episodes on Nick Toons and not Nickelodeon.

Nothing to worry about they said. They don't realize this is targeted at a select demographic they said. That's what DVR's are for. WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW?! I can't even watch the darn show if they move to Nick Toons. The bastards. :smt013

And you know what's even worse? I WAS RIGHT. :P

I'm more concerned that the last episode was complete crap.

The characters are far more one dimensional and the storyline is completely predictable.

the last episode actually made me more optimistic for the show.

I like that it seems like we have a set group for the adventures, maybe they'll go on a journey like Aang? We're sure to see more of the world now.

This is TERRIBLE news. I have nicktoons, but not in HD. Seeing as this show is shot in HD, that means I have to deal with shitty quality until the blu ray release. Great.

I don't understand. Does each episode take place 30 days apart from the last? I never picked up on that aspect.

"Damn, the ratings aren't high enough... Let's move it to a station that will ensure we get even worse ratings!"

I hope Nickelodeon confirm that this isn't true. Even if I didn't give two turds about the show, it's a terrible idea. Let's admit that the show didn't earn the ratings the network expected it to get. But it also didn't bomb. The gap between Book 1 and 2 was over a year long and I believe that heavily contributed to that. If it just completely plummeted to the bottom, I'd understand cancelling it or sending it to another station. But the show looks expensive. Not only did Nickelodeon themselves take the chance to order more seasons and spend all that money on marketing and promoting it, the production of the show looks expensive as well. It's one of the most beautifully animated shows on television in recent years and you know that took a lot of money. Moving its schedule and appearance to another station this early in the season let alone in production could cost Nickelodeon a lot of money. They've already lost a load of their ratings in general and are really lacking in comparison to other children's networks such as Cartoon Network and Disney, both of which currently have very successful and critically acclaimed animated shows. I'm done rambling on and on. I'm certainly no business expert, but that should be common knowledge.

I'm not sure what ratings Nick was expecting. The first season was so popular that they ended up ordering more, and it's in the same timeslot as the new TMNT (and they ordered more of that show shortly after the pilot, if I'm not mistaken). Maybe it would've helped if they'd had "Korra Week" or something on the primary Nick channel; have five days in primetime where they show all of season one so people can get caught up/refreshed before the new season. As it is, they make more of a fuss over new SpongeBob DVDs than they did for Book 2 (as far as TV ads go). They could've advertised on other channels in the same parent company.
