At the Vertigo Panel at New York Comic Con this weekend, creators Mike Carey and Peter Gross revealed that The Unwritten will return in January for The Unwritten: Apocalypse, a twelve issue limited series that will serve as the end of the critically acclaimed book. Each issue will see an increased page count of twenty-two pages, and the team will wrap up all the stories they've been telling over the past five years. Bloated corporate megasite CBR has an interview with the creators discussing the news, so head over there if you want all the deetz, but be sure to wash your hands with anti-bacterial soap before returning.

While we're excited for the return of the book, we would be remiss in our meme-repeating duties if we didn't point out that the end of The Unwritten doesn't bode well for Vertigo.

Damn. I can't believe DC is firing Carey off this book after those 12 issues.

Obviously the fault of right wing conservative nut bag Bill Willingham.
