Agreed. Though I think the Shadow one is made great by the colourist more than anything.

I normally like whatever Alex Ross does, but I found the Shadow to be a bit flat. The Dark Knights is much more dynamic, and the historical drawings are spot on.

Isn't Ross his own colorist?
I always thought he does black and white wash drawings then colors them.
