The first one was surprisingly grand in scope. Good to hear about this one.
Although you wouldn't know it by the TV trailers here. It's like they picked the corniest groan-worthy one-liners for the latest TV spots here. :smt011

With Branagh not returning, I was worried the sequel might not be as majestic as the first one. Those images thankfully allay my worries.
Well met, high-res images!! :smt026

Any idea why the movie was released a week early internationally?

I'm starting to feel Chinese... all our stuff gets produced for overseas rich people and we have to wait for it to be re-imported to our shores.

I'm guessing that Heimdall, in response to the elves attacking Washington DC, doesn't declare:

"Today we are cancelling the apocalypse!"

I watched Pacific Rim again with the DVD release, and man that is a quality monster movie. All that "Transformers meets Godzilla" is a slap in the face to Del Toro. I mean, he actually did director things. Doesn't the Transformers director guy just plug everything into a computer "big fight scene" and spend the rest of the production trying to be seen in public by his buddies with Megan Fox?

Well, technically Marvel is making a lot of these in the UK now more than Hollywood, so it's not really being exported, then imported. But seriously, Avengers did it, and started a trend. Marvel seems to have continued with the idea, movies like Battleship and John Carter that tanked in the US did ok internationally before coming out in the US, Star Trek Into Darkness tried it b/c they didn't always have big International takes for ST's and wanted to try it. Pac Rim made much more int. than in the US. It is irritating that they can't do simultaneous releases though.

The guy that played Adebisi on Oz and Mr Eko from Lost.

Honestly didn't recognise him in the movie...thought he was that guy from Star Trek Voyager of whom he doesn't look anything like IRL

Tom Hiddleston is awesome. 8)
I don't know if I have a bigger man-crush on him or Benedict Cumberbatch.
