View from the Gutters: Supermarket

This week on View from the Gutters the topic is the very cool Supermarket, by Brian Wood and Kristian Donaldson.

This week on View from the Gutters, our topic is Supermarket, written by Brian Wood and illustrated by Kristian Donaldson, published in 2006. Set in a cyberpunk-ish near future, Supermarket is the story of a teenage girl name Pella Suzuki, who mediates on her existence and the city we know only as "The Supermarket", in between bouts of fleeing from the rival organized crime families who killed her parents.

Supermarket is a radical and colorful comic with an amazing amount of style, and just enough grounded realism to almost-but-not-quite be cartoony, and it's a hell of a fun read.

In our recommendation section our hosts nominated Daredevil: Yellow, Strange Attractors, The Five Fists of Science, The Black Beetle, and The Plain Janes for discussion on the next episode, and our selected title is Strange Attractors.

Our hosts for this episode were Andrew Chard, Joe Preti, Matt McGinnis, Tobiah Panshin, and Cade Reynolds.

Does she really mediate on her existence, though?
