First thing I thought of

In the interest of fair & equal treatments, are we going to get skeevy upskirt shots & impossible poses that accentuate her butt & breastesis?

The comic will also see Khan struggle with her faith, although Willow (a convert to Islam) noted that she won't evangelize her faith in the comic.
Just a typical American teenager that will be so easy to relate to.

Is a new writer writing comics that she wants to write such an affront to WASPs that any new non-white character is automatically PC bullshit?

c'mon, let's be honest...it IS PC bullshit. otherwise, Marvel would just be selling it as "starring Kamala Khan, an American teenage girl with the ability to shapeshift" who "idolizes Carol Danvers", instead of "starring Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenage girl with the ability to shapeshift" who "idolizes Carol Danvers". the whole reason you even point it out is to call attention to it to try to win yourself some sort of brownie points for being "diverse".

But if the whole point of the comic is the character's attempt to reconcile being a superhero and a Muslim teenager, shouldn't that be front and center?

I think this looks really interesting. First, G Willow Wilson, has done some good books over at vertigo and is a solid writer. Second, I like the diversity and more likely will pick up the book based on both counts.

Also the cover reminds me from Peter David Supergirl #1

Exactly. My wife doesn't go to work and say I'm from the Middle East and I speak Arabic. I don't go to work and say my great aunts and uncles died in the Holocaust.

it's possible and even likely. However in this political climate, if it was just covered in the book, it might be reacted to badly as well.

I didn't see much of this with Peter David and M, but I don't read a lot of comics talk outside of here and would believe there was a some backlash for that. I think Faiza was announced to be Muslim before the comic was published.

I'll chime in since nobody wants me to, and I'm always offended by this stuff.

This is 100% ok. Carol Danvers hasn't turned into a Muslim American teenager. She hasn't been killed off to replace her with a minority character. It isn't some forced change, and I can kinda see how a Muslim teenager might even idolize a strong, powerful, female hero.

LOL, this poor Muslim girl is idolizing a WASP Barbie doll alcoholic that was raped by her own child (or something like that).

I agree. I don't see the issue here.

Marvel's promotion of her is PC Bullshit but that doesn't mean the character or her creation were done with an agenda in mind.
