Speaking of not embedable...

Lost Behind the Scenes Footage from "Ultraman" Discovered
Lost film containing 60 minutes of outtakes (aka “NG scenes”) from the original 1966-1967 Ultraman TV series was recently found at the home of a Tsuburaya Productions employee’s house, and Japan’s NHK-News was impressed enough to run a report on it!

New Tokusatsu Flick "Earth Defense Widow" Slated for February 8, 2014

It was officially announced that Japanese cult tokusatsu director Minoru Kawasaki's latest film Earth Defense Widow will be released in Japanese theaters on February 8, 2014. After making several independent tokusatsu-parody films in his school days at Meiji University, he made his debut as a professional film director with Chikyubouei Shoujyo Iko-chan (Earth Defense Girl Iko-cahn) in 1987. Since then, he has directed a variety of low-buget tokusatsu films such as Ika Wrestler (The Calamari Wrestler) in 2004, Nihon Igai Zenbu Chinbotsu (Everything Other than Japan Sinks) in 2006, and The Monster X Strikes Back/Attack the G8 Summit in 2008. Following Chikyubouei Shoujyo Iko-chan and his 2011 film Chikyuboei Girls P9 (Earth Defense Girls P9), Earth Defense Widow is the third installment of his lifework "Delusional Tokusatsu" series.

The film is starring by 32-year-old "sexy" actress/model/gravure idol Dan Mitsu. Two famous veteran tokusatsu actors Koji Moritsugu (Dan Moroboshi in Ultra Seven) and Shunichi Okita (Ichiro Yamanaka in Ultraman Ace) support her. And two acclaimed manga artists also join the film as designers; Kamui Fujiwara (Dragon Quest, Kerberos Panzer Cops written by Mamoru Oshii) designs the costume of the earth defense force named "JAP" members and Kia Asamiya (Silent Möbius) works on the monster Bemularsu.

The story centers on Dan (Dan Mitsu) who is a flying ace of JAP and ex-geisha girl. Her fiance was killed by the monster Bemularsu which ate nuclear wastes, and she has sought vengeance on it since then. But the problem is that she feels ecstasy every time attacking the monster. Can she save the earth?

"Why are you pointing your screwdrivers like that? They're scientific instruments, not water pistols."
"Oh, the pointing again! They're screwdrivers! What are you going to do? Assemble a cabinet at them?"
"Are you capable of speaking without flapping your hands about?"
""Timey" what? "Timey wimey"?"

Fuyumi Ono's Ghost Hunt Supernatural Novels Get Live-Action Film

Twins Japan and Kadokawa Shoten announced on Monday that they are producing a live-action film of Fuyumi Ono's Ghost Hunt supernatural novels and Shiho Inada's manga.

Yoshitaka Yamaguchi (assistant director for Yatterman, director for live-action Arcana) will direct the film, which is slated to go into production next month for a planned summer 2014 release.

In the original Ghost Hunt series, high school girl Mai Taniyama encounters Shibuya Psychic Research, a paranormal investigation agency led by a tall, dark, handsome — and, naturally, aloof — teenager (who Mai nicknames "Naru" after the English word "narcissist"). Before long, Mai joins the ranks of the agency, whose associates include a Chinese occultist, a world-famous psychic, a self-proclaimed Shinto shrine maiden, a former Buddhist monk, and a Catholic exorcist.

x-posted in the videogame thread. If you've never watched gamecenter, try checking out youtube (though they took many of them off). Arino is a hilarious guy.

Game Center CX/Retro Game Master Film Teaser References '80s Game & Anime

A teaser trailer and more details from the GameCenter CX (Retro Game Master) film were revealed at a 10th anniversary event at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo on Tuesday. The film's full title will be GameCenter CX The Movie: 1986 Mighty Bomb Jack.

The story takes place in Japan in both 1986 and 2006. The 1986 storyline follows a gamer named Daisuke who wants to confess his feelings for Kumiko, a girl he likes — all while trying to reclaim his copy of the Famicom (NES) game Mighty Bomb Jack that he lent out. In 2006, the hapless game company manager Arino-kachō struggles to complete Mighty Bomb Jack in front of fans. The storylines of the boy who loves Famicom and the middled-aged man who loves Famicom eventually merge into one.
