I really want that one, on reputation alone. Would you say it stands up? Moebius's art in Madwoman is solid, but it's not mindblowing the way I understand The Incal is.

I recommend the Incal. It has pages that no other artist could have come up with. Take a look at this:

Image

The problem with Madwoman is that Moebius did it in one of his "loose lines" stages; besides, since the project took years to get completed, you see that as time progresses, Moebius seems to get even more "loose", and sometimes his art looks quite a bit rushed. In a way, that's the same thing that has happened to a lot of artists (and hence phrases like "his old stuff was better").

Here's my Incal review. Don't worry, is not too long.

Only Humanoids stuff I have is Muse, Metal (great story), Olympus, Dominion, I Am Legion, and Zombies That Ate The World. I've been debating getting Clockwerx, but other than that there hasn't been anything else that has really caught my eye.

Oh, I have I Am Legion, I bought the DDP edition, though.

Of course, I wrote a review about it too:

Yeah I got the rest of I Am Legion through DDP also. Well I started with issue #3. I still had the first issue Wildstorm did when DC had the license collecting issue's one and 2. But DDP is also how I got Zombies Who Ate the World.

Oh yeah, I remember DC had that license. I never saw any of the Wildstorm editions, were they good? Similar to the DDP editions (besides having 2 issues together)?

Midas wrote:That was an awesome post! Great pictures and analysis. Not sure I love the new coloring. Very interesting that Eagle retouched/redid that page of block mania. Not entirely surprising since the original Progs tell the story in 8-page chunks. I'm guessing Eagle didn't like what that did to the "flow" so they had somebody redraw/fill in that page to eliminate the "recap". Glad that IDW stuck with the original page there.

I might pick this up in trade as they release it.

This is outrageous! IDW has fucked up the third issue of Judge Dredd Classics. I can’t believe how an editor could be so negligent and clumsy to mutilate an issue of the legendary Wagner & Ezquerra saga. There are pages in disorder. This is a serious mistake but there is something even worse: there is one missing page. I just can’t believe what a mess they’ve done with Judge Dredd.

Here, have a look at the original page order:

Image
Missing page

Image
Completely useless white page in the IDW edition that unnecessarily alters the page order.

Image

We should all do an online campaign asking IDW to give us a reprinted (and corrected) third issue for free!

Never did answer this. Their copy of I Am Legion was just your basic 64 page Prestige Format book. Not the singles that DDP later did. Olympus was just your basic GN as well, maybe a little bit larger then normal but I could be wrong. I never did see what DDP's version of it looked like.
