James Robinson and Leonard Kirk to Write New Fantastic Four Series

The JSA writer will be writing Marvel's first family.

Source: USA Today

Although we've known this for a month or so, Marvel confirmed this morning that James Robinson and Leonard Kirk will be the creative team on a new Fantastic Four series.  In an interview with USA Today, Robinson stated that his new arc will focus on "the fall and rise of the Fantastic Four", and will particularly deal with Johnny Storm coping with a loss of his powers.  Other plotlines will include the Fantastic Four fighting the Avengers (presumably because Wolverine has the hots for either Valeria or redhead Alecia Masters and wants to eliminate all potential competition with his typical Machiavellian plotting), Franklin Richards using his reality altering abilities and the Thing facing the harsh realities of prison life.

This is the second Marvel ongoing that Robinson will be working on.  He's also writing an All-New Invaders series which involves the original Human Torch and friends.

Sounds kind of grim-n-gritty

(no Grimm pun intended)

This doesn't sound that interesting, to be honest. I think I'll go when the current run ends.

I have been really excited about James Robinson's run until I read this:

I am not a fan of stories featuring characters losing their powers or abilities, even temporarily. :-(

I'll still check it out but this news really lowered my interest level.

The FF get evicted too. It's just all so old hat, plus a bunch of my least favourite story tropes. After Hickman and Fraction I think the bar has been raised just that little bit too high for this type of thing.

And ONCE AGAIN we see that smashing characters to bits is all that "JUSTICE!" Robinson can think of doing. Surprise, surprise.

Not exactly what I was expecting when I heard that Robinson was going to be doing Fantastic Four. I'll wait to read the first issue to see how the book is.

People like Mr. "JUSTICE!" keep pulling the same Broken Record crap, so I'm going to keep smacking them upside the head about it.

We get that DC Does Stupid Things a LOT, and yet, I hear that there's a counter that keeps track of every single time they do such things. That counter's not going to stop pointing out DC's stupidity, and neither am I about Jimbo's tendencies. Sorry. :smt102

And yet, you prove that you don't get the point of Ignoring me by talking about me.
