Marvel Makes It Free Cosmic Book Day in 2014

By a stunning coincidence the Guardians of the Galaxy movie comes out in 2014 too!

Source: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY & SPIDER-MAN Headline Marvel's Free Comic Book Day 2014 Offering

Marvel has revealed its offering for Free Comic Book Day 2014 and it's (heroic fanfare)… Guardians of the Galaxy! Yes, just a few months before the debut of a new Marvel comic property onscreen, Marvel is offering a comic starring those comics for… (wait for it)… FREE!

The comic will be written by Brian Michael Bendis (writer of the current Guardians of the Galazy title) and illustrated by Nick Bradshaw and will give readers their first look at the "all-new" Guardians of the Galaxy. Joining the galactic guardians is Captain Marvel and a "Mystery Marvel Superstar you’d never expect to see with the Guardians of the Galaxy" (conveniently blacked out on the cover for now). This mysterious character is said to set off events that will propel the Guardians to the deepest reaches of space and into the arms of a deadly cosmic threat.

But that's not all! The comic will also feature a back-up Spider-Man story by Dan Slott and Giuseppe Camuncoli that "lays the foundation for 2014’s top secret Spider-Man event" and "will rock the Wall-Crawler’s world to its core!" The CORE man!!

Free Comic Book is set for May 3, 2014. Guardians of the Galaxy I AM GROOTS into theaters August 1, 2014.

That silhouette looks suspiciously like Flash Thompson Venom.

Next years even will be Symbiote Invasion?

It's probably Rich Rider Nova... but now he has a gun.

I was thinking it was Cable, actually.

And my guess for the Spider-Man event is probably The Return of Peter Parker.

Nick Bradshaw isn't going to become the regular artist on Guardians of the Galaxy is he? I'm just starting to get into the current series and Bradshaw would be a deal breaker.

Punchy, I have never wanted you to be right more than I do at this very moment...even though the gun is ridiculous. Unfortunately, it's probably Cable.
