Paul Dini & Eduardo Risso Creating Batman-related Vertigo Comic

What's the saying again?... This doesn't bode well for Vertigo?

Source: Bleeding Cool

There isn't much news on this past what the title covered.  At the Festival Internacional de Quadrinhos, Eduardo Risso said that he and Paul Dini will be working together on a new Vertigo series staring a character from the Batman Universe.

Eduardo Risso and Paul Dini will be together in a series of Vertigo with a character from the Batman universe. Risso did not reveal who the character, but proved quite interested in working with Dini and the universe of Batman once more. Interestingly he revealed that a few minutes after this writer had asked if he toparia with the entire team of 100 Bullets, making an issue of Wonder Woman. But superheroes are not really his thing.

Who could it be?

There's lots of characters related to Batman that would work well in a more adult oriented story. My gut thought would be Poison Ivy. From my immature fanboy side it's a fun thought, but my more mature side is hoping for something more substantial than a T&A story.

Upon reading this article, the first characters that came to mind were a young Jim Gordon or maybe a story about Alfred before he went to work for the Waynes.

A lot of characters to choose from. I'd go for the Riddler.

Just to make it clear, the word "toparia" stands for "agree". This google translations is just hilarious...

There's a number of Batman-related characters that could be interesting in the Vertigo imprint, especially in the hands of Paul Dini. The term "Batman universe" is really pretty vague as it could mean anything from a core Batman-family character to nearly any of the residents of Gotham City or characters who've interacted heavily with it in the past. While it would probably never happen I'd love to see a series using the Renee Montoya version of the Question. I'll win the lottery before that ever happens, though.

This doesn't bode well for Vertigo.

Vertigo should be for original ideas, not for the umpteenth fucking Batman spin-off.

Yeah, as intriguing as him bailing on "Zatanna" and "Gotham City Sirens" after a few issues. He made such a big stink about Zatanna being his favorite character, only to bail fast and leave the book to tank as a series of one-shot filler stories.

But, yeah, why do we need Vertigo for another Bat-Book. Is Vertigo DC's "Marvel Max" now?
