Freeze Comes to Batman: Arkham Origins

Postby LOLtron » Thu Jan 02, 2014 10:12 am

Source: Twitter

WB tweeted a new teaser for Batman: Arkham Origins for an upcoming Story DLC yesterday, which heavily hints at Mr. Freeze appearing in the game.  The teaser hearkens back to the Batman: The Animated Series episode "Heart of Ice", which updated Mr. Freeze's origin, and brought the character back to prominence after a lengthy absence in the comics.  In the episode, Freeze confronts the man who caused his condition at a presentation ceremony for a "Humanitarian of the Year" award, which is shown in the video game teaser, along with a heart-shaped diamond.

WB Entertainment did not release the cost or release date of the teaser, but I'm sure it'll pop up eventually.

Haven't played the game yet, but Freeze WASN'T in it?? Dude--wrong.
That's someone who should have been in it from the beginning.
Can't wait for more info :)

Play the game first.

Sorry, but until it and the system it's available on is free, I'm afraid my money has to go to bills, food, and my Mum's $500 heart medication.
But when that's all free, DO be a dear and let me know!

Well if you haven't played it, just seems weird to say "it's wrong" because a character isn't in it. The story of the game wouldn't have been conducive to using him outright originally. I can see DLC being used to explain the origins of the character, which would make sense given the nature of the game itself (it takes place early in Batman's career).

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean the game would be wrong, just to hear that someone like Freeze wasn't in a game about Batman seemed wrong. I always felt for the man and his situation with Nora and all, so I had a small soft spot for the dude.
As far as games go, the only things I can see being "wrong" is if there were voice-acting faults or program code glitches. Then again, script writing is more important. Give me a glitchy game with crappy acting and I can just mute it, wait out the lag, and enjoy a damn good story as I get "game over" after "game over" XD

Touche~
I hope Freeze is well-integrated into the story rather than just throwing him in for the fans. Though as long as it doesn't mar the game quality or gameplay itself and they just add him in (which it sounds like they're doing more than that) I don't see any problems with it.

Yeah, having him in the game already (which you kind of suggested originally) would have been just throwing him in for the fans. They made the right call here.

Since I have no idea what that is I think I'm supposed to say "no"... but it would be fun to say "yes" for the hell of it.
What's that? :)

It's a pretty easy-to-use system for getting video games. You still have to pay, mind, but they're all PC-games (including Arkham Origins). Steam is a free, also.

Interesting. Doubt I'll get it though since i haven't been all that thrilled with Origins to begin with. Its fun but it really offers nothing new at all.
