I had no idea what this comic was about before and after I read it.

Either I’m feeling really fuzzy, or this comic was just plain confusing. There’s not a whole heck of a lot to say yet about The Field. So far in issue 1 we meet the main two characters. One has no idea who he is, but understands how to work a smart phone. The other is an odd bird who speaks in playful euphemisms that teeter on awkward.
Ed Brisson (Secret Avengers, Robocop) is setting something up here, and I’m envisioning Preacher level violence but with some really obscure vernacular. Hopefully I'm right about that.
So far as the art by Simon Roy (who has earned his frequent flyer miles with Brisson),it's befitting on the dark tones of the comic. Something is wrong, and you just aren’t sure what. Whatever that something is, it seems to have presented itself on page 16, if only for 2/3rds of the page. The art suddenly is muted, out of focus, and choppy, possibly inferring some sort of dream state the proposed victim is truly in. Who knows, not much is revealed and it’s all very vague.
All in all, this makes me say don’t buy issue 1. Wait till 2 or 3 to give it a good shot. Best bet is it's probably going to be better in a trade.
