Zankyou no Terror ***/*** - Based on the first episode, this is the second best of the new shows out there this season, second to Tokyo ESP. Dark story of corruption and terrorism. Very well put together... so far. The first episode leaves some intriguing prospects to the two male lead characters. You like dark vicious anime? This one is for you.

Aldnoah Zero ***/*** - Watcher the first three and yeah, it's good. But so was Valvrave and like it, I think this series is going to fall flat on not only not being original in plot or devices, but also designs and characterizations. Beats most others so far this seasons, such as Argevollen. Seems to hold better promise than Buddy Complex had. Flawed set up in my mind though. Left me thinking a bit of The Pilot's Love Song for obvious reasons.

So the ratings so far -

Sword Art Online II ***/***
Ghost in the Shell Arise ***/*** (continuing from last season.)
PSYCHO-PASS Extended Edition ***/***
Tokyo ESP ***/***
Zankyou no Terror ***/***
Captain Earth ***/*** (continuing from last season.)
Aldnoah Zero ***/***

Akame ga Kill! **/*** (could jump higher with upcoming episodes.)
Space Dandy 2 **/***
Argevollen **/***
Tokyo Ghoul **/***

DRAMAtical Murder */***

"Oh, the pointing again! They're screwdrivers! What are you going to do? Assemble a cabinet at them?"
"Are you capable of speaking without flapping your hands about?"
""Timey" what? "Timey wimey"?"

Correction - Zankyou no Terror IS the best anime this season. Just watched the second episode and it made a big leap up by not tripping up.

Zankyou no Terror - Trailer 2 (English Sub) by xsoullessx

Here's the ending theme, really sums up the tone of the series.

"Why are you pointing your screwdrivers like that? They're scientific instruments, not water pistols."
"Oh, the pointing again! They're screwdrivers! What are you going to do? Assemble a cabinet at them?"
"Are you capable of speaking without flapping your hands about?"
""Timey" what? "Timey wimey"?"

Absolute Duo Fantasy School Light Novels Get TV Anime by 8-Bit

The MF Bunko Summer School Festival 2014 event announced on Sunday that a television anime adaptation of Takumi Hiiragi-Boshi's Absolute Duo light novel series has been green-lit. The studio 8-Bit will animate the project.

The story begins with Blaze — a weapon that is the manifestation of a human's soul. Tōru Kokonoe happens to be qualified for this, but for some reason his Blaze is not a weapon, but a shield. Moreover, he enrolled in a school that teaches combat skills, and thanks to the school's Duo partner system, he ends up living with a beautiful silver-haired girl.

I hope not.

Is Studio Ghibli On The Cusp Of Calling It Quits?

With Hayao Miyazaki’s retirement and Toshio Suzuki’s move from film producer to general manager within the studio, rumors have surfaced in Japan that the venerable anime studio may be moving from producing feature films to merely managing their anime assets or creating television productions. Miyazaki’s retirement combined with Suzuki’s change of focus and the exorbitant production costs to produce anime feature films these days has put a financial burden on the studio to hit a home run with every feature film it releases – though this has been difficult to execute.

This year's 15th issue of Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine is announcing on Friday that Kentarou Miura will resume his Berserk manga series in the magazine's 16th issue on August 8.

Miura had taken a break from Berserk earlier this year to publish the six-chapter Gigantomakhia mini-series. Berserk then returned to Young Animal in the eighth issue on April 11, but then the manga went on hiatus again in June.
