Still getting used to the accent (missed some dialogue here and there).

While there have been many TV shows/movies to rip-off/pay homage to Doctor Who, it was weird to have it reflected back - namely "resistance is futile". Once I had that stuck in my head, the similarities to "I, Borg" were too obvious (Rusty = Hugh) and Rusty's return is all but inevitable.

Add in Fantastic Voyage and the only original thing in this episode was the Missy scene. I have no idea how that soldier ended up there.

Yeah but I think this is the first time Who has ever done a Fantastic Voyage homage. (Which pretty much any serialized science fiction show does as least once during its run)

Also I don't think Rusty's going to return, what would be the purpose?

I saw the shrinking down as more a nod to Let's Kill Hitler, than Fantastic Voyage, which would make it the second nod to Matt Smith's run in a row.

I thought tonight's episode took forever to get off the ground, but it had a nice little twist at the end (albeit not a very original one). I was surprised to see them set up Clara's love interest so soon. They really don't seem comfortable with an older doctor.

I am still leaning to the idea that Missy is River. River was left in a sophisticated virtual world that could host peoples' minds. Maybe she's found some way of reaching out and grabbing those around the Doctor.

When he gets excited or angry, I have no clue at all what he is saying. There was an entire scene last night where I am pretty sure he said "Blargh bloog blargh biggety boogle bag"

So, something occurred to me last night. When he told Clara that it was cute that she thought she was young looking... Hartnell was old and Smith was the youngest ever. Maybe the Doctor has reverted to some kind of angsty teenage in this new regeneration?

I thought the Doctor saying "What a 'fantastic' idea for a movie" only had one meaning.

Really?! None of you recall that classic?!
"Why are you pointing your screwdrivers like that? They're scientific instruments, not water pistols."
"Oh, the pointing again! They're screwdrivers! What are you going to do? Assemble a cabinet at them?"
"Are you capable of speaking without flapping your hands about?"
""Timey" what? "Timey wimey"?"

I also thought the "my mind to your mind" thing was an homage to "Star Trek".

Really?

Have you seen the Thick of It? The accent's a lot stronger there and I never had any trouble understanding it. Maybe it takes some getting used to?

Can't argue the Hugh comparison.

Missy's somehow collecting "victims" of the Doctor through time and space? Hmmmm...

What's the connection (if any) between the soldier/teacher who works with Clara and the soldiers in space?

That's what I always do. I watch in once with closed caption and again later without.

There was one part that I didn't get at all though.

I didn’t get why Rusty went back with the Daleks. I thought he was going to be like the Punisher.

I liked the new people, I guess Danny is going to be a regular. Really thought Journey would too.

Thinking about “broken” Daleks from this episode and last season. Maybe that’s how they can bring back the Time Lords, they’re too busy fighting themselves to restart the Time War.
