I AM GROOT! Well, not really, but still Groot is awesome. Hard to tell from the preview if we'll be seeing Groot in this week's issue of GotG, but just the possibility makes this the best Review Group week ever. I've switched to a new wallpaper just for the occasion.

If fourthman starts behaving more wonky than usual in this thread it's because Marvel cosmic sets off his DC fanman tourettes. He has trouble facing the reality that the Nova Corps pwns the GLC.

Drax and Quasar journey beyond the veil of life in a desperate quest to find Moondragon. But what is waiting for them on the other side, and will it ever let them return? It’s a double shot of cosmic horror – that plants the seeds for where GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is heading next!

If you would like to join the group it's easy. Just post a review and I'll add you to the member's list. As long as you stay active, eventually it will be your turn to make a pick.

With $4 comics becoming the norm, the economy being what it is and the growing popularity of mail order services the Review Group recognizes that it's becoming harder and harder to commit to participating each and every week. As long as you can post one review per calendar month you will stay in the member's list. It doesn't matter if you post your review the week of it's release or if you post it later. Going forward, there is no such thing as a "late" review.

The only request I make with the new format is that if you don't plan on posting a review or if you're going to be posting late is that you drop a note in the thread so that I can keep track of who is active and who isn't. The Spreadshee of Doom is thorough, but it can't read your mind.

Image
Comics are to be scored on a scale from 1-10. 1 being suck, 10 being a damn good comic. Beyond that, there's no right or wrong.

Image
If it's your week, you must announce your selection by 5pm EST the day Diamond releases it's shipping list. If you do not announce your pick at that time, I will add a poll to the thread that will remain open until 12pm EST so that the group can make the selection for that week. To ensure that you know it's your week, I will PM you when Midtown's list goes live on Thursdays.

I would think anyone wanting to write extra reviews would want to do them on the front page.

not neccesarily. Some people may not want to do that kind of polish. Some people may shy away from that kind of exposure. Some people may want to cause a more general discussion.

Too bad I am all tied down at the other site, because the new rules would be a fertile ground for thefourthman challenge.

I know that thefourthman reads more comics than me and has impeccable taste but I can't believe he doesn't like a book with Rocket Raccoon in it... just wrong.

If I can get over my lazy, I'll probably try to do a few. Reading The Roberts last night made me want to do one, but with 10 hour workdays today and tomorrow I don't where I would fit it in.

I read an issue last night in preparation, #9, the title still doesn't do anything for me and the raccoon was barely in it. It just seems so average to me. That is really what my problem with all that is.

And my taste is questionable. I read too many comics, but this War of Kings/Annihilation/Nova/GotG stuff just doesn't grab me. The first Annihilation was okay but just went on a bit too loong (I really liked the Drax miniseries though) and the second one just seemed like retread. I will read #10 and then #11 and then decide if I have a full review to write.

4thy's fear of anthropomorphic raccoons is so rare, they haven't even come up with a scientific name for it yet.
